Adding a line item in Xactimate desktop (X1)

Adding items through Estimate Items
- Open your project in Xactimate.
- Navigate to Estimate > Estimate Items.
- In the Grouping pane, select the room to which the item belongs.
- Find the line item through one of the following options and add it to the estimate.
- Use the keyword search at the top of the page to locate the item. Use it like any other search bar.
- Navigate to the item by selecting the room type under Structural (items that are part of the house structure) or Contents (items that sit inside rooms) and selecting the appropriate area of the room. Then select the item from the list that appears (adjusting the topic on the left as needed). See Xactimate Xpert Tip: Finding a Line Item in Xactimate for details.
- Enter the Cat (category) and Sel (selector) codes for the line item directly into the Quick Entry pane.
- With an already added item selected in the Quick Entry pane, select either Similar (for similar items) or Related (for items used in tandem with the selected item) just under the keyword search.
- Customize the item as needed in the Quick Entry pane.
Tip: If your estimate has a large number of line items, and you are trying to find a specific one you already added, you can search for it by the line item number; to do so, navigate to Estimate > Estimate Items, enter the number in the Item # field at the top right, and select the Enter key.
Adding items through Sketch
- Open your project in Xactimate.
- Navigate to Estimate > Sketch.
- Select the appropriate room in the sketch and complete the following in the Search pane.
- Find the line item through one of the following options and add it to the estimate.
- Use the keyword search at the top of the Search pane. Use it like any other search bar.
- Navigate to the item by selecting Reference Search and narrowing down your selection by selecting the appropriate options as they appear.
Note: If Search Price List, and the options below it, is not visible, reorient the pane by selecting Home.
- Directly enter the Cat (category) and Sel (selector) codes for the line item directly into the Quick Entry pane.
- With an already added item selected, select either Similar (for similar items) or Related (for items used in tandem with the selected item) just under the keyword search.
