What is the difference between an instance and a profile?
Instance
An instance is a virtual network that lets you communicate securely with other members of your organization. Instances are customized with specific settings that fit your company workflow.
Think of an instance as a company account. To create or access projects in Xactimate, you must belong to an instance. Each instance has users and projects that belong to it, and the number of users that can be added to an instance varies based on your subscription. Instance administrators can modify instance settings, users, and rules in Xactimate Admin.
Profiles
Profiles are pre-determined estimating settings for use within a given instance. Users can have multiple profiles in use within an instance, but each project can only be assigned to one. These settings include various depreciation defaults, security groups, available vendors, and many other preferences, and they can be set by profile owners in Xactimate Admin.
When an independent adjuster or other use works with multiple companies, they may have access to multiple profiles within their instance. This often includes one profile for each company they work with.
