Create a curved staircase

Creating curved staircases requires several steps because there is not a curved staircase option pre-programmed in Xactimate. The following steps and video both guide you through the process; use either option as needed.

  1. Create a basic staircase in the approximate shape and location you need it (see Add a standard staircase in X1 or Add a custom shaped staircase in X1).
  2. Select a staircase wall.
  3. Open the Staircase Wall Properties dialog box (either double-click the wall or select the Properties icon with the wall selected).
  4. Under the General group, change Arced Wall to Yes.
  5. Click and drag the middle wall handle to the correct arc dimension.
  6. Follow steps 2-5 to create an arc on the opposite wall of the staircase.
Note: You can select both walls before following Steps 3 through 5, but the arc is more difficult to adjust correctly when more than one wall is selected.
  1. Select the main staircase (not just the wall) and open the Staircase Properties.
  2. Under the Staircase group, change Angled Treads to Yes.
  3. When you return to the sketch, select the tread angle vertex () and drag it to the appropriate position to adjust the treads.
