Upcoming security update: Enhancing your login experience

What's changing

  • Starting April 2025, we are upgrading the way you log in by requiring an enhanced security feature called 2-factor authentication (2FA or also known as multi-factor authentication).
  • 2FA adds an extra layer of protection to your login by verifying your identity using two steps: something you know (like your password) and something you have (like a one-time code from your phone).

Why is this change happening

  • Improved Security: This update strengthens the security of your account, protecting it against unauthorized access. Even if your password is compromised, 2FA helps ensure only you can login.
  • Compliance Requirements: The updated 2FA system helps us meet the latest security standards and industry regulations.

What this means for you

  • New customers: When creating a new Verisk account, customers will be prompted to set up email for 2-factor verification in the same workflow where they set up their account password. After setting up email as a factor, customers will have the option to set up phone and authenticator app as other factors.
  • Existing customers who already have 2FA enabled: Unfortunately, customers who use 2-factor verification today cannot be migrated to the new 2FA system due to security constraints. These customers will receive information on how to update their 2-step settings so they can use the new system.
  • Existing customers who do not already have 2FA enabled: We will roll out this change in a phased process to minimize the impact to our Support and Customer Success teams. As customers enter the required group, they will see information on the login page to lead them through the process of setting up 2FA for their accounts.
  • Existing customers who use federated SSO: There is no change for customers who login with their organization/company credentials.

Phased rollout plan

  • April 2025: We will begin rolling out the updated 2FA system to customers in phases. We will notify you in advance when the update is coming to your account and provide all the resources you’ll need to get started.
  • November 2025: The transition will be complete, and all customers will be required to use the upgraded 2FA system.
By rolling out these changes gradually and providing support along the way, we aim to ensure a smooth transition for all customers. Thank you for helping us enhance your security and protect your account.
